Kanaloa Surf Co ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Kanaloa Surf Report mobile application (Android and iOS) and website (the "Service"). This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information when you use our Service.

Information We Collect

Account Information: When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from your Google account. When you sign in with Apple, we receive your name and email address (or Apple's private relay email address, if you choose to hide your email) from Sign in with Apple. This is used to identify your account and sync your preferences across devices.

Favorites: We store your favorite beach selections on our servers so they sync across your devices.

Subscription Data: If you purchase a Premium subscription, we store your subscription status, platform (Google Play or the App Store), and expiration date. On Android, we store a Google Play purchase token; on iOS, we store an App Store transaction identifier. Both are used only to verify your subscription with the respective platform.

Device Push Token: If you enable surf alerts, we store a device token (via Firebase Cloud Messaging) so we can send you a notification when your saved conditions are met.

Usage Data: We may collect general usage information such as which beaches are viewed to improve our forecast refresh priorities. This data is not tied to individual users.

Information We Do Not Collect

• We do not collect your precise location unless you explicitly use map features that require it
• We do not collect payment card information (all payments are processed by Google Play or the App Store)
• We do not track your browsing activity outside our Service, and we do not use your data for advertising
• We do not sell your personal information to third parties

How We Use Your Information

• To provide and maintain the Service
• To sync your favorite beaches and subscription status across devices
• To verify and manage your Premium subscription
• To send surf alert notifications you've opted into
• To communicate with you about your account if necessary

Third-Party Services

Our Service uses the following third-party services:

• Google Sign-In: For authentication. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
• Sign in with Apple: For authentication on iOS. Subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.
• Google Play Billing: For subscription purchases on Android. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
• Apple App Store: For subscription purchases on iOS. Subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.
• Firebase Cloud Messaging: For delivering surf alert notifications on both platforms. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
• Open-Meteo: For surf and weather forecast data. We send beach coordinates (not user data) to retrieve forecasts.
• NOAA: For tide prediction data. No user data is shared.

Data Retention

We retain your account information and favorites for as long as your account is active. If you sign out, your data remains on our servers so it is available when you sign back in. To request deletion of your data, contact us at the email below.

Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including HTTPS encryption for all data in transit. However, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure.

Children's Privacy

Our Service is not directed to anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
